The children from the Kea room had some great experiences at the Treetop Walkway yesterday. They were all very eager to help the adults with planting native trees.

Children in the Kea Room are learning about blogging with our awesome facilitator, Nicola Minehan.

Science/Technology

Kea students learnt how engineers design and construct buildings to withstand earthquake damage by building their own model structures using toothpicks and marshmallows. They experimented to see how earthquake-proof their buildings are by testing them in an earthquake simulated in a pan of Jelly.

Shanty Town 2019

We had a great couple of days with both the juniors and seniors at Shanty Town this week. The children learnt a lot about the history of the Kokatahi and Kowhitirangi valleys from doing practical and hands-on activities. Thank you, Lisa and Judy (teachers at Shanty Town).

Max Dowell

Great learning this morning with one of our very respected grandparents, Max Dowell. Max started as a child at Kokatahi School in 1939 (80 years ago and the start of World War 2). We were fascinated by his stories of the Kokatahi and Kowhitirangi valley and how the school looked back then. Thank you very much, Max, for your time with us this morning.
